KinderCare to provide child care for children at onsite center
MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital recently announced they will offer employer-sponsored child care benefits to their employees through KinderCare Education At Work™. Through this benefit MedStar employees will be able to access daily early childhood education and care at KinderCare centers near their homes. They will also have priority access to care should local centers have waitlists. KinderCare will also be the new operator of MedStar’s existing onsite child care center, Good Samaritan Child Development Center, in Baltimore.
The child development center employs 10 teachers and staff and provides care for more than 60 children of employees from MedStar, as well as for families from the surrounding community.
Nationwide, more than 80% of parents with children under the age of five reported challenges in finding affordable, quality care according to the Affordable Child Care Learning for All Families report published in 2018 by the Center for American Progress. KinderCare’s 2022 Parent Confidence Report found that 68% of working parents believe employers should offset the cost of child care for their employees, while 55% of parents said they would take a pay cut to work for a company that provided quality child care.
“Working families require access to quality early education and care in order to participate in the workforce,” said Dan Figurski, president of KinderCare Education at Work. “Forward-thinking companies like MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital recognize this and are aware that providing their employees with access to quality child care is fundamental in their ability to retrain and attract the most talented workers. We’re happy to have the opportunity to work with MedStar to support their families and families around Baltimore.”
